Q HOW SOON SHOULD I ORDER MY CAKE?
A You can order your cake as early as you like, but a minimum of 12-16 weeks notice is generally required. However please contact us to discuss a shorter time frame if necessary

Q WHAT BUDGET SHOULD I ALLOW FOR?
A The size, shape and style of cake will influence the cost. If we know your budget, we can discuss options.

Q WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE
A One third deposit at time of booking and final payment one week prior to your function

Q HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE TO ORDER
A This depends on the number of guests and whether you decide on coffee or dessert slices. Some brides have an additional smaller side cake, which allows them to keep a tier of the wedding cake for a future christening

Q I DON'T LIKE FRUIT CAKES
A Aternatives to the traditional fruit cake are growing in popularity. Chocolate, lemon, butterscotch, vanilla and carrot, are just some of the delicious flavours available.

Q DO YOU DELIVER OR DO I PICK UP
A Each cake will be on a decorated cake board and placed in a box for safe transportation. We offer free delivery through the Yarra Valley, which includes setting up your cake at the reception centre. A charge applies outside the Yarra Valley dependent on distance. Alternatively you can pick up your cake from us with full set up instructions.

Q HOW DO I KNOW WHAT KIND OF FLOWERS TO CHOOSE FOR MY CAKE?
A This is an individual thing, and we will work with you to create a cake you will love. However you might be interested to know that some flowers used on wedding cakes have special meaning i.e. rose = happy love, daisy = innocence, tulip = declaration of love, white lily - purity.

Q. HOW MUCH TIME IS THE CONSULTATION?
A. As much time as you need. We will play with shapes and colours so you can see for yourself what your own creation will look like. It is important for you to feel at ease and end up with the cake that you have dreamed of.

Q. ARE WE ABLE TO TASTE THE CAKE FLAVOURS?
A. Absolutely. When you arrive for your personal consultation you will be offered a beverage and samples of a variety of the flavours we have at THE CAKE CONNECTION.

Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE CONSULTATION?
A. If you know the colour scheme/theme of your wedding it is always a good starting point. Bring along sample colours of bridesmaids dresses and an idea of the flowers you will be having in your bouquets. It is always handy if you get the names of your flowers from your florist as we are able to create these flowers in sugar craft. Also bring along the details of your wedding reception and florist.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A PRINTED CATALOGUE?
A: No. We sell hundreds of cake decorating items, and the inventory is constantly changing. We do not have a printed catalog and encourage you to browse through our website! We hope someday in the future to have a printed catalog. We will e-mail everyone who has opted into our mailing list when we have a completed catalog.

Q: DO YOU SHIP CAKES?
A: Sorry, though we get tons of requests to ship cakes to other states, it is just not possible.
